What is this?

Crossword Trainer is a practice tool designed to help you improve your crossword solving skills by focusing on the types of clues and answers that appear most frequently in crossword puzzles.

Why are these so hard??

Easy clues have been omitted from this collection. These are intended to be clues that are more likely to need to be studied -- the kind of "crosswordese" that appears regularly in puzzles but might not be part of everyday vocabulary.

OK but some of these seem basically impossible!

Yeah... Some of the clues (~1%) are corrupted. Not every one of the 10,000+ clues has been manually reviewed, so if a clue makes zero sense, that may be what happened. Sorry! Eventually we might find a way to proactively remove these for everyone, or at least make a way for users to flag them as they are encountered.

Disclaimers

The site is constantly under development. Clearly there are lots of ways it could be better. We'll try not to, but sorry if we accidentally delete all user data while we make various changes.

Data Privacy

Please don't use a sensitive password. Sensitive data is being stored properly to the best of our ability (we cannot see or reverse engineer user passwords), but this not exactly an enterprise-grade website and we don't want to be trusted with precious data. You don't even need a good password for a non-critical site like this, and you should be using a password manager for actually important sites.
